We are the Environment subgroup of the Public Relations Volunteerism Campaign 2011.
For the Campaign, our group will be focusing on the environment and infrastructural issues in the Tronoh Mines new village. A quick walkthrough the new village showed many rundown houses and common areas; these are some of the things we can work on to help improve the villagers’ lives. There are some areas where we can help clean up to give them a better quality environment to live in. Also, recycling and green efforts are lacking in the new village; through the Campaign, we can raise awareness about a greener environment among the villagers and assist them in recycling efforts so that resources would not be wasted.
Our group's objectives
- To expose UTAR students to the concepts of volunteerism;
- To encourage UTAR students to be actively involved in voluntary activities by recruiting at least 50 student volunteers for all on-campus activities and at least 100 student volunteers (apart from group members) to help out at Tronoh Mines;
- To clean up and beautify the common areas of Tronoh Mines.

- DIY workshop (7-8 April 2011) - we are recruiting volunteers to handmake some items such as clothes hangers, shoe racks and some simple teaching materials for the villagers. (Day 1)
